Youth Support + Advocacy Service (YSAS) is a leading youth health not-for-profit agency held in Victoria, enables highly vulnerable and high-risk young people with substance dependence and misuse issues, mental illness and social disconnection to take control of their health and wellbeing.
YSAS aims to engage, support and strengthen highly vulnerable and high-risk young Victorians affected by, or at risk of being affected by, alcohol, drugs, mental health issues and social disconnection. We do this by developing non-judgmental, caring and respectful relationships with young people and their families and communities. With more than 200 skilled staff, YSAS provides a range of integrated services across 13 sites in metropolitan and regional Victoria.
YSAS provides holistic, strength-based and evidence-informed therapeutic practices across a continuum of care and recovery services. Through assertive outreach, residential withdrawal and rehabilitation, supported housing, day programs and social enterprise. YSAS builds trust, provides treatment services and enables re-engagement with education and training, families and communities.

Effectiveness of YSAS
Youth Support + Advocacy Service (YSAS) is an effective non-legal response as it provides a continuum of services for young people aged between 12 and 21 who are experiencing problems related to alcohol and other drugs. YSAS provides a range of youth-specific outreach, treatment, withdrawal, rehabilitation and support programs in 13 locations across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
YSAS is an effective non-legal response as it will guide young individuals to gain will-power to fight against the urge to consume alcohol and to support individuals giving up alcohol and support them throughout their trials. Case Study: Do the things I love, Sam's Story

"When I was 14 I felt like the whole world caved in on me. I was angry and wanted to make it go away and I thought alcohol would help. I would drink until I passed out and often cry myself to sleep". When Sam was at the age 14, she having problems with her life and she thought by consuming alcohol would benefit her by forgetting all the pains she was suffering from. Sam would consume alcohol on a daily basis and at the same time would cry because of all the pain she is experiencing. Sam would drink a high amount of alcohol until the point she would passed out. Sam had recovered from all of her problems by joining the Youth Support + Advocacy Service organisation, the organisation had supported Sam throughout her recovery. "I didn't want help at first, it took time but I feel like I have more control now and I'm taking it one day at a time. I'm 19 now and I want to do things I love again".
